Our Roots in the Community program is a series of projects that allow us to plant roots in the most financially marginalized communities and help them create solid financial foundations and paths out of poverty. Each project allows us to invest our resources in specific communities where the most impact can be made. Programs are provided primarily for the community of focus and are often tailored to their unique needs, with class space open to the general public as well.
Roots in the Community
Projects last three-five years depending on need
A TOLF center is created in the community through partnerships with schools, community centers and local nonprofit organizations
TOLF centers include: a computer lab, instruction room(s), resource lab and is managed by TOLF and staffed with trained volunteers
Programs provided to the community: Financial Coaching; the MoneyWISE Series of classes, RISE Mentoring for teens, PATH Life Coaching for adults, RISE Education Workshops, SAT/ACT Prep, GED Prep and Community Education/Advocacy Workshops
Programs and classes aim for a 70:30 mix, with the goal of having a majority of program beneficiaries coming from the Roots community
Goals of each Roots project are set according to each community and their needs, the resources available within the community, and the resources TOLF is able to provide and bring in to the community along with the support of stakeholders (local, state and national).
